THE ARTICLES

In English grammar, article has an important function in explaining the word noun. Type of article is divided into two articles:
1.      The Indefinite Article (A/An).
2.      The Definite Article (The).
Here described the first , The Indefinite Article is a group of articles that are used before singular nouns word that can be countable. The Indefinite Article consists of A and An. Article A used before words beginning with the letter noun consonants. Article An used before nouns that begin with the letter vowels a, i, u, e, o.
Usage The Indefinite Article:
1.      In front of the name of rank, postion, job (I am a doctor).
2.      In front of the religious (He is a moeslem).
3.      In front of one’s nationality (She is an Indonesian).
4.       In front of countable noun singular (She ate an Orange).
5.      In the sentence beginning story (Once upon a time).
6.      Before uncountable noun which is being used as countable noun (He has a good life).

But form The Indefinite Article can not be used:
1.      Before uncountable noun.
2.      Before plural noun.
3.      After kind of/sort of.
4.      Before noun such as work, fun, health, etc.
5.      Before words such as furniture, thunder, etc.
6.      Before plural noun such as scissors, pliers, etc.
The second, The Definite Article usually used before noun that considered unique thing. The is a complement word which used for show clear noun. The Definite Article is ‘The’. The is a from to substitute this, these, that, or those. In Bahasa Indonesia ‘The’ can not be translated of this, these, that, those. In the Indonesian ‘The’ but the still show that the thing is real known. So if you want to mention a noun or a particular you may use The Definite Article ‘The’.

There are two ways to read The Definite Article ‘The’ that are ‘The’ is read dhze and ‘The’ is read dhzi. ‘The’ is read dhze when followed by a noun beginning with a consonant sound or vawel consonant sounds, for  example the cat/dhzekaet/(kucing). ‘The’ is readdhzi if it followed by a noun beginning with a vowel sound or a consonant that sound like vowels, for example the egg/dzhieg/(telur). Usage The definite Article :
1.      The name of an object that is only one of them (the moon).
2.      Noun which already mentioned or specified in the preceding sentence (I have a new shoes. The new shoes is black).
3.      Nationality name that describes that collective (The German).
4.      Singular noun is used to declare a class (The animal).
5.      Uncountable nounbounded by adjectives or superlative of degree comparison or clause (The best English).
